The Hospitality and Tourism Cluster is made up of two pathways in Kansas, all under the direction of Family and Consumer Sciences and Business Education departments. The pathway design sheets found under each pathway link will provide access to the course competencies, which direct the knowledge and skill development and strengthen this tie to the different departments. Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism This career cluster covers a range of careers from culinary arts and event management to lodging and travel/tourism. The Travel and Tourism pathway is linked more commonly with the Business department, where the Restaurant and Event Management pathway is linked within the Family and Consumer Sciences department. It is notable that courses taught in both departments are found in both pathways. In addition, the career and technical skill organizations Family, Community and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA), and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) add to the learning environment by offering opportunities to develop leadership while classroom knowledge and skills are applied in authentic situations. To learn more about these organizations in Kansas visit: Kansas FCCLA and Kansas FBLA.
