The Division of Fiscal and Administrative Services oversees the distribution and auditing of all state and federal aid to local education agencies for approximately 40 programs; training and assistance for providing quality child nutrition and wellness programs for all Kansas children; facilitating all communications within and external to the agency; managing the various scholarship and recognition programs administered by the Kansas State Department of Education; providing technical, network, internet and computer support to the Kansas State Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education; assisting in the integration of technology into the classroom; and performing all internal accounting, budgeting, and purchasing activities for the Kansas State Department of Education.
An important part of Dr. Neuenswander's responsibilities is the supervision of all information and projects related to education legislation. This involves responding to requests for information from the Legislature and Governor's office concerning school finance as well as keeping the State Board of Education, agency staff, and local education agencies informed on education legislation issues.
