The next regular State Board of Education meeting is Nov. 12 and 13 in Topeka. Agenda Members will conduct a morning work session on the 13th at the offices of the Kansas Health Institute in Topeka. 50 years -- This year, the State Board of Education marks its 50th anniversary under constitutional design. The first elected 10-member State Board took office in 1969. A reception celebrating the milestone and to honor the work of citizen leadership in public education was held in October.
