Mission Statement: The Kansas Standards for History, Government, and Social Studies prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, engaged citizens as they enrich their communities, state, nation, world, and themselves.
The Kansas State Board of Education adopted the Kansas Curricular Standards for History, Government, and Social Studies in 2013. The current standards will be up for review 2018-2019 with State Board Approval schedule in the 2020-2021 School year.
In advance of this review date, the Kansas State Department of Education invites the public to provide input on the current History, Government, and Social Studies standards, based on their experience with them over the past five years, in an effort to refine them.
This is NOT a referendum on the standards. ONLY comments tied to a specific standard will be considered. All interested parties will have until July 2nd 2018 to submit feedback via this interactive site.
Comments provided about specific standards will be evaluated by a team of Kansas educators, from all levels specializing in the specific content areas. Any changes recommended by this team will be presented to the Kansas State Board of Education for its consideration.
