CCSSO

The Council of Chief State School Officers is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. The Council seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public. http://www.ccsso.org/

DQC

The Data Quality Campaign is a nonprofit national advocacy organization began in 2005. DQC now leads a partnership of nearly 100 organizations committed to realizing the vision of an education system in which all stakeholders—from parents to policymakers—are empowered with high-quality data from the early childhood, K–12, postsecondary, and workforce systems to make decisions that ensure every student graduates high school prepared for success in college and the workplace. http://dataqualitycampaign.org/

EIMAC

The Education Information Management Advisory Consortium (EIMAC) is CCSSO's network of state education agency (SEA) officials tasked with data collection and reporting; information system management and design; and assessment coordination. EIMAC Resources

FPCO

The U.S. Department of Education also provides the Family Policy Compliance Office. The goal of the FPCO is to meet the needs of the Department's primary customers--learners of all ages and parents--by effectively implementing two laws that seek to ensure student and parental rights in education: the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). http://familypolicy.ed.gov/

PTAC

The U.S. Department of Education provides the Privacy Technical Assistance Center as a resource for education stakeholders to learn about data privacy, confidentiality, and security practices related to student-level longitudinal data systems and other uses of student data. PTAC provides timely information and updated guidance on privacy, confidentiality, and security practices through a variety of resources, including training materials and opportunities to receive direct assistance with privacy, security, and confidentiality of student data systems. PTAC engages national experts from a variety of industries and federal agencies with experience on technological issues regarding data security; legal issues regarding data sharing, access, and use; policy issues regarding data governance processes; and statistical issues regarding the reporting and publishing of aggregate performance data. PTAC has create a privacy toolkit that serves as a centralized depository for the most up-to-date information to guide stakeholders looking to improve the security, confidentiality, and privacy of education data. Toolkit resources include Technical Briefs, Issue Briefs, Checklists, Webinar presentations, and many other materials. http://ptac.ed.gov/

SETDA

The State Educational Technology Directors Association is a not-for-profit membership association launched by state education agency leaders in 2001 to serve, support and represent their emerging interests and needs with respect to the use of technology for teaching, learning, and school operations.
