Chairman Jana Shaver, who chose not to seek re-election to the State Board, will conduct her last meeting Dec. 9. Shaver has been a State Board member since 2007 representing District 9 in southeast Kansas. She has served as vice chairman and on numerous committees including the Kansas Advisory Committee for Career & Technical Education. Jim Porter of Fredonia was elected to fill this vacancy and will be sworn in this January.
There will be a reception to honor Mrs. Shaver's work serving the students of Kansas from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the Board Room, Suite 102, of the Landon State Office Building.
