A two-year license based on a formal exchange agreement between Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin.
Exchange Teaching
Allows individuals who have completed a state-approved teacher education program in their home state and who hold a standard valid license in that state to receive a two-year teaching license in Kansas if they are deficient any of the initial Kansas requirements. During the two-year period, all deficiencies must be completed.
Deficiencies may include: licensure examinations and recency credit.
Exchange School Specialist (school counselor, library media, reading specialist)
Allows individuals who have completed a state-approved school specialist program in their home state and who hold a standard valid school specialist license in that state to receive a two-year school specialist license in Kansas if they are deficient initial Kansas requirements. During the two-year period, all deficiencies must be completed.
Deficiencies may include: completion of the content licensure examination; a 3.25 cumulative grade point average in graduate coursework; recency credit.
NOTE: Leadership licenses are not included in the agreement.
NOTE: Alternative routes to licensure do not fall within the exchange agreement.
