The Kansas State Department of Education has partnered with the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education to bring the Math-in-CTE Model to Kansas Schools for the 2009–2010 school year.
This model uses teacher pairs consisting of one CTE instructor and one math instructor from the same district/building to identify and teach mathematical concepts that are embedded within the CTE curriculum. This partnership allows students to better connect what is taught in math class with what is taught in CTE classes.
All interested teacher pairs must receive permission from their local administrator in order to enroll. Teams will attend ten days of training, beginning June 8–12, 2009. Teams must be granted a common planning time in their home district for the upcoming school year and are expected to assume leadership roles during the implementation year and future years. Registration is now open at the Kansas State Department of Education website at
http://conferences.ksde.org and will remain available until April 15, 2009.
Training dates are as follows:
June 8–12, 2009
November 14–15, 2009*
