Current Events and Issues

The Kansas State Board of Education will conduct its next regular meeting May 9 and 10 in Topeka.  Agenda

On April 22, State Board members met with U.S. Senator Jerry Moran in Topeka.  First, Commissioner Randy Watson provided an overview of the Kansans Can vision for education. Senator Moran then shared insight on education issues at the federal level, helped answer questions about Title funding and heard from State Board members about federal budget concerns and ESSA expectations.

As in previous years, Kansas legislators received a weekly informational postcard from the State Board during the legislative session. This year's series focused on state level educational outcomes and accomplishments made toward the Kansans Can vision to lead the world in the success of each student.
