Current Events and Issues

The next regular State Board of Education meeting is Sept. 12 and 13 in Topeka.  Individuals who need the use of a sign language interpreter, or who require other special accommodations, should contact Peggy Hill at 785-296-3203, at least seven business days prior to a Kansas State Board of Education meeting.


Aug. 8 and 9 meeting summary.  State Board members heard from administrators of the seven school districts that were selected to participate in the Kansans Can School Redesign project. Each of the seven districts selected one elementary and one secondary school for the project. See full announcement on the KSDE homepage. Board action this month included approval of the assessment performance levels and cut scores for Science as well as approval of the Kansas curricular standards for Mathematics.

April 17 and 18 (third week)

May 8 and 9

June 12 and 13

July 10 and 11

August 14 and 15

September 11 and 12

October 9 and 10

November 13 and 14

December 11 and 12
