National Board Certification

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) - is an organization whose mission is to advance the quality of teaching and learning by:  maintaining high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do; providing a national voluntary system certifying teachers who meet these standards, and; advocating related education reforms to integrate National Board Certification in American education and to capitalize on the expertise of National Board Certified Teachers. Kansas Fee Subsidy Program

There are no federal funding sources available to provide fee subsidy support to National Board initial candidates.
 
State funds are available for limited fee support for initial and renewal candidates. Click on the following links to print Initial and renewal candidate subsidy applications. Subsidy applications will be accepted until January 1, 2015 or until funds are depleted. Subsidies are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Individuals who achieve National Board Certification are eligible to apply for a 10 year accomplished teaching license.
