KSDE’s Accreditation and Design team provides monthly KESA update

The Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Accreditation and Design team hosted a monthly Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) update on Tuesday, Nov. 14, via Zoom.

Topics included what KESA entails during the 2023-2024 school year, including KESA Learning Year expectations, and proposed changes to the accreditation model.

KESA 2.0, which is what the proposed KESA model is being called, will be based on Kansas State Board of Education outcomes; the four fundamentals, which include structured literacy; standards alignment; a balanced assessment system and quality instruction; and compliance.

Attendees of the KESA monthly update were reminded to fill out the KESA Check-in/Peer Review survey and asked to ensure their system has analyzed student data related to State Board outcomes and has established student performance goals or is in the process of setting those goals.

The slides used during the presentation are available by clicking here. The monthly update was recorded and will be available soon on the KESA Conference Calls and Training Information webpage. The recording also will be sent out on the KESA listserv as soon as possible. To be added to the KESA listserv, send a request via email to accreditation@ksde.org.
