KESA kickoff meeting information, recording available online

Information provided during a Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) kickoff meeting last week is now available online.

If you were not able to attend the kickoff, or if you would like to review what was shared, a recording and slides are available on the KESA training page: https://www.ksde.org/Agency/Division-of-Learning-Services/Teacher-Licensure-TL/KESA/KESA-Conference-Call-and-Training-Information.

Members of the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Accreditation and Design (AD) team hosted meetings on Thursday, Aug. 10, to share with systems what will be expected during the 2023-2024 KESA Learning Year.

The Kansas State Board of Education approved issuing this transitional year to allow for systems to adapt to revised accreditation criteria that will be fully implemented in 2024-2025.

During this Learning Year, all systems will continue working toward goal setting and collecting data and evidence that supports the system’s work around process and outcomes. These artifacts will be collected locally; not uploaded to the KESA authenticated application.

Systems will meet with their KSDE Regional Executive starting in January 2024 and participate in a subsequent peer review using their collected artifacts as the basis for these discussions.

Please note that for the 2023-2024 school year, use of the KESA authenticated application will not be required. Systems will only use the application to update their contact information, access previous work, and/or submit documentation to the ARC for a conditional accreditation redetermination. No formal report in the application will be completed during the 2023-2024 school year.
