Accountability, Accreditation and Assessments

Accreditation Advisory Council (AAC) members meet in Topeka

The Accreditation Advisory Council had its first meeting of the 2023 calendar year from 9 a.m. to noon via Zoom.

The AAC is a group of about 30 education professionals from across the state who represent a myriad of roles and perspectives in education. They include classroom teachers, higher education professionals, education association representatives, school and system administrators and more.

The group is utilized for feedback, which helps steer the decisions made by the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Accreditation and Design (AD) team.

During the Feb. 5 meeting, the AAC was given an update on the various supports the AD team has been providing this year including updates on Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA).

Additionally, AAC members were provided insight into the future of accreditation and were asked to provide feedback and input based on their work in education in Kansas.

The AAC will meet for a full day in person on April 3 to give more feedback on the future of the accreditation process.

For more about the future state of KESA and to provide feedback, tune into the February KESA monthly update from 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Register for the Zoom here. Meeting slides and recordings from the meeting will be housed after the event on the Accreditation and Design team’s training page
