Volunteer Commission, KBBBS offering informational session on Jan. 16

To help celebrate January being Kansas/National Mentoring Month, the Kansas Volunteer Commission is hosting an informational session with Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters (KBBBS) from 1-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Ashley Massey-Lewis, community projects coordinator at KBBBS, will lead the session.

Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

KBBBS works to match Kansas youth facing adversity with caring, adult mentors in professionally supported one-to-one relationships to change their lives for the better, forever.

KBBBS serves Kansas youth ages 5 to 25 through both school and community-based programs. Mentors provide support through a variety of challenges related to self-confidence, friendships, school or family situations. KBBBS is a Silver Star Mentor Kansas partner.

On Nov. 20, 2023, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly signed a proclamation declaring January 2024 as Mentoring Month in Kansas. The Kansas Volunteer Commission team, Mentor Kansas Advisory Council members and T’Artijane Williams, a KBBBS little, attended the proclamation signing.
