Adlof to present Zoom sessions on connections between dyslexia and language development

Dr. Suzanne Adlof will offer two virtual opportunities to learn about connections between dyslexia and language development.

The Language Basis of Literacy: Word Reading, Comprehension and Writing will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 11. This one-hour webinar will describe the oral language skills that are foundational to reading and writing development; describe the language and cognitive profiles of students with dyslexia or development language disorder; explain how the relationships between foundational language skills and reading performance change across school grades; and discuss the value of directly measuring skills in all students as part of screening and progress monitoring for reading and writing.

There will be a 30-minute session after the webinar for questions. Register HERE (Zoom invitation will be sent prior to event).

Measuring and Supporting Language Skills to Increase Reading Comprehension and Writing Aptitude will take place from 5-6 p.m. Jan. 25. This one-hour webinar will provide the rationale for assessing language skills to understand students’ reading and writing performance; discuss the importance of supporting language development for children with reading and writing difficulties; and demonstrate key instructional activities that can be embedded within the curriculum to increase students’ understanding and use of morphology, vocabulary, and complex sentences.

There will be a 30-minute session after the webinar for questions. Register HERE (Zoom invitation will be sent prior to event).
