The Kansas Every Child Can Read Act, K.S.A. 72-3262, provides a legislative statement of intent regarding the promotion of academic achievement in schools to ensure that all students move toward grade-level proficiency in literacy, especially by third grade.

The Davis-Bacon Compliance requires all laborers and mechanics employed by contractors or subcontractors who work on construction contracts in excess of $2,000 financed by federal assistance funds to be paid wages not less than those established for the locality of the project (prevailing wage rates) by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).
