Online professional development classes available for child nutrition, food safety and more

The Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team at the Kansas State Department of Education continues to develop new interactive online training classes and tutorials for food service professionals that can be accessed free of charge via the KSDE Training Portal.

The professional development classes offer a certificate upon successful completion. These certificates can be printed.

Tutorials are less than an hour with no quiz or certificate.

There are classes on a broad range of child nutrition program topics, such as food safety basics, gluten-free diets, food allergies and personnel management; as well as trainings on Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and School Nutrition Programs (SNP). There are also tutorials on several topics, such as Navigating Direct Certification, Using the Wellness Impact Tool and Utilizing the Kansas Online Application for Free and Reduce-Price Meals.

Create an account now at https://learning.ksde.org and see the complete list of classes and tutorials available. For detailed instructions on creating an account and accessing the training, go to www.kn-eat.org, School Nutrition Programs, Training.
