Reminder: Fill out survey to help KSDE Teacher Licensure gauge interest in Registered Teacher Apprenticeship program

The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Teacher Licensure team is asking building and district leaders to fill out a survey to gauge participation and interest in the Kansas Registered Teacher Apprenticeship program.

The survey will give KSDE a better understanding of who is interested in the program and who would like more information about it. Saying “yes” in the survey doesn’t commit a district to the apprenticeship program. Instead, it will identify potential districts to participate in the program during the 2024-2025 school year.

The Kansas Registered Teacher Apprenticeship program is a four-year, competency-based apprenticeship program established in collaboration between the Kansas Department of Commerce and KSDE.

The program allows an individual to receive paid on-the-job training in a school district while he or she completes related technical instruction to earn a bachelor’s degree and complete a teacher preparation program. This will lead to a license in either elementary education or secondary education.

The program provides funding through grants and scholarships to enable the apprentice to complete a bachelor’s degree and teacher preparation program at little to no cost.

If you have any questions, please email Teacher Licensure at Apprentice@ksde.org.
