Megan Clark, an art teacher at Clear Creek Elementary School (De Soto Unified School District 232), and Whitney Morgan, an English language arts teacher at Wyandotte High School (Kansas City USD 500), were named Region 3 finalists for the 2019 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony Sunday, Sept. 9, in Overland Park. This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.
Nicole L. Corn, a kindergarten teacher at Sunset Hill Elementary School (Lawrence Unified School District 497), and Sharon L. Kuchinski, a social studies teacher at Leavenworth Senior High School (Leavenworth USD 453), were named Region 2 finalists for the 2019 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony Sunday, Sept. 9, in Topeka. This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.
Lan T. Huynh, a third-grade teacher at Christa McAuliffe Academy (Wichita Unified School District 259), and Tim “T.J.” Warsnak, a social studies teacher at Halstead High School (Halstead-Bentley USD 440), were named Region 4 finalists for the 2019 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 8, in Wichita. This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.
TOPEKA — Signe A. Cook, a fifth-grade teacher at Park Elementary School (Great Bend Unified School District 428), and Jennifer S. Brown, a first-grade teacher at Sheridan Elementary School (Geary County USD 475), were named Region 1 finalists for the 2019 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 8, in Salina. This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.
The Kansas State Board of Education will conduct its next monthly meeting Sept. 11 and 12 in Topeka.
