Introduction to ASQ training to be offered virtually March 22

The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Is offering a new Introduction to ASQ training to be offered virtually.

The free training will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on March 22.

This training is designed to provide any professional working with children birth through kindergarten an understanding of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires ASQ:3 and ASQ:SE-2 and how to effectively partner with families to complete the developmental screenings. The training incorporates a family study, role playing conversations with caregivers, and interpreting scores. Participants will also learn how to discuss screening results, next steps, and referrals to community resources with families. There also is a brief overview of ASQ Online.

Learning objectives include:

  • Describe features of ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2.
  • Understand the importance of developmental screening.
  • Review guidelines for introducing the screenings to caregivers.
  • Describe and interpret scores.
  • Discuss appropriate follow-up and referrals with caregivers.
