School districts invited to participate in Visiting International Teacher informational session Feb. 2

School districts are invited to participate in an informational session about hosting a Visiting International Teacher (VIT) in the 2024-2025 school year. The webinar will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the Visiting International Teacher webpage afterwards. Access the webinar at: https://ksde.zoom.us/j/86185961234.

VITs are experienced teachers, all from Spain, who live and work in Kansas for up to five years as part of a cultural exchange. They can teach a variety of subjects ranging from elementary education to high school chemistry and participate in cross-cultural activities in their schools and communities. When they return to their home school after the exchange, they share their experiences and increased knowledge of the United States and the U.S. educational system. In the 2023-2024 school year, there are five new VITs and thirteen returning VITs.

School districts interested in hosting a Visiting International Teacher in the 2024-2025 school year must complete the Letter of Intent available at: https://www.ksde.org/Agency/Division-of-Learning-Services/Career-Standards-and-Assessment-Services/Content-Area-M-Z/World-Languages/Visiting-International-Teachers.

The Letter of Intent is due by Feb. 9, 2024, to Dr. Jessica Dorsey, assistant director of KSDE’s Career, Standards and Assessment Services, at jdorsey@ksde.org.
