State Board requests all districts complete online survey regarding firearms safety training

The Kansas State Board of Education has requested all school districts complete an online survey to learn which school districts offer a firearms safety training program for students.

All superintendents have been sent the link to the firearms safety survey. Districts are asked to assign one person to submit the survey no later than Wednesday, July 26.

Questions:

  1. Does your school district provide firearm safety training to students? Yes or No – All districts are asked to answer this first question.
  2. If yes, what grades?
  3. What firearms safety training curriculum are you currently using?
  • Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism’s Hunter’s Education in Our Schools.
  • Eddie Eagle.
  • Other.

All school districts are asked to submit this survey. If your district does not offer a program, open the survey, enter contact information, select No and Submit.

Contact John Calvert, with the Kansas State Department of Education’s Safe and Secure Schools Unit, at jcalvert@ksde.org or call (785) 296-7056 if you didn’t receive the link or have any questions regarding the survey.
