School districts, Commissioner of Education celebrate American Education Week

School districts across Kansas and the nation are celebrating American Education Week, Nov. 13-19, in a variety of ways.

Some handed out small thank you gifts to educators or invited members of the community into classrooms to serve as a teacher or principal for a day. Others, such as Clifton-Clyde Unified School District 224, asked their communities to send a note of thanks to a staff member who made a difference.

Even Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson celebrated by thanking educators, students and community members in a special video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW9zldow7LE) and by visiting Council Grove Junior-Senior High School, Morris County USD 417. He shared advice with eighth graders on transitioning successfully to high school and beyond. Watson also visited a few classrooms and held a gecko in a science classroom.
