Reminders on Core Instructional Materials Support

In support of school improvement, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) is collecting data on instructional materials used in Kansas schools. This data will help KSDE understand statewide material usage and inform resource allocation.

Each of you should have received an email from KSDEsurvey@tntp.org with a unique link to a Qualtrics data collection tool. Districts are asked to identify primary instructional materials for K-12 English Language Arts, K-12 mathematics, and K-8 science, along with adoption years. Additionally, districts must indicate whether they use the three-cueing system model of reading or visual memory programs.

It should be completed by staff members who have direct knowledge of the curriculum and instructional materials (such as Curriculum Directors or Teaching and Learning Directors). If you receive the email, you can forward it to another staff member for completion. It should take less than 15 minutes to complete.

To prepare for the survey, you can review the HQIM Data Collection FAQ on the Division of Learning Services webpage. We are continuing to update this as questions come in from the group. You can preview the survey here; as well as review the list of instructional materials in this folder to verify publisher date and year. KSDE & TNTP will also be available for support at the curriculum leaders meeting in Maize on Friday, April 19.

The data collection window is open until Friday, April 26. For questions, or if you did not get the link, you can reach out to KSDESurvey@tntp.org
