Registration now open for 2023 KSDE Budget Workshops

Mark your calendar and make plans to attend a budget workshop presented by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Craig Neuenswander and Dale Brungardt, director of KSDE’s School Finance team.

These workshops are conducted for superintendents, clerks and business managers of school districts. The 2023-2024 budget document will be reviewed and there will be discussion about several new school finance bills passed by the 2023 legislature.

Budget workshop dates and locations:

  • June 14: Sublette, Southwest Plains Regional Service Center.
  • June 15: Oakley, NW Kansas Educational Service Center.
  • June 19: Greenbush, Southeast Kansas Education Service Center, Girard.
  • June 21: Valley Center, Valley Center High School.
  • June 22: Topeka area, Shawnee Heights High School, Tecumseh.
  • June 26: Hutchinson, Career & Technical Education Academy.
  • June 27: Salina, Lakewood Middle School.


Contact the workshop site to register all people attending from your district to guarantee that adequate seating and a workshop packet will be available for all participants. Participants are responsible for the registration fee charged by the host site.

Watch for the 2023-2024 budget software program to be available in late June.

Please note that the dates above are tentative until the legal status of Senate Bill 113 is clarified. The registration process can be started now, and the School Finance team will contact you if changes to dates are necessary.
