Hearing on proposed changes to KSHSAA rule postponed until August

A public hearing to consider proposed changes to the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Rule 5 (classification of senior high schools) has been postponed until the August Kansas State Board of Education meeting. Action on the item is slated for September.

The public hearing had been scheduled at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, in the board room in Landon State Office Building, 900 S.W. Jackson St., Suite 102, Topeka.

The purpose of the proposed rule change is to apply an enrollment multiplier factor when determining classification numbers of private schools. Factors for determining the multiplier include school location, socio-economic status, and championship factor. A copy of the proposed rule change may be obtained by contacting the Secretary to the Kansas State Board of Education at the address above prior to the date of the hearing or by email to bhughes@ksde.org.

More information about the new date and time will be shared at a later date.
