TOPEKA — The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) today released a report on the Kansans Can School Redesign Project, now in its fourth year. “Lift Off: How Kansas is Redesigning its Schools for Tomorrow” focuses on how Kansas schools are preparing students for future success through the school redesign project. The goal of this initiative is to introduce redesign structures to all Kansas schools within a 10-year period. There are now four cohorts – Mercury 7, Gemini I, Gemini II and Apollo – that are going through redesign. The application process is open now for the fifth cohort, Apollo II. The Mercury 7 cohort is in its third year, and Kansas is beginning to see results, such as dramatic improvements in attendance data, including fewer tardies, and behavior, such as fewer suspensions and expulsions.
