Outside Visitation Team (OVT) Training ONLINE! - Thursday, December 2, 2021

To serve on an Outside Visitation Team (OVT), each member must be trained regarding the roles and responsibilities of serving in that role. KSDE recognizes that because of the number of educators that have changed positions or retired from education over the past several years it can be difficult to maintain consistent OVT membership. To make it easier to train potential OVT members to be a part of your teams, we have developed an online training module that will allow new members to be trained at their convenience. The entire training takes about an hour, although it is set up for you to complete at your own pace.

Please use the link below to access the KSDE training portal. You will need to create an account if you do not already have one, and then you will be able to access the training, complete it at your own pace, and print the certificate of completion. You can find the OVT Member Training course under the Teacher Licensure and Accreditation tab (TLA), or by searching OVT. A link to the training is also provided below. Thank you for your willingness to train and serve as an OVT member. This is a critical component of the accreditation process.

There is currently a need for additional trained OVT Chairs across the state. If after you have completed the training, you are interested in serving as an Outside Visitation Team (OVT) chair there is additional training that is required. This training is currently being provided via Zoom or face-to-face. If you are interested in serving as an OVT Chair, please contact KSDE at accreditation@ksde.org for additional training information.

If this is your first time on the KSDE Training Portal, you will need to create an account. Otherwise, if you have logged into this site in the past, you can use the "forgot password" feature, if needed. Or if you do not remember the email address you used in your account, please contact KSDE from the portal for credentials.

 KESA Application

The KESA Application (KESA App) is a district-level application. It should be completed by the superintendent or his/her designee. In order to request/gain access to the KESA App, the user must log in to a district-level authenticated applications account. If the user does not have a district-level account, a separate district-level account must be established by going to the authenticated applications login page and clicking on the green "Register" button. In the "building" dropdown, select "All buildings."

Note: The process is slightly different for private schools where each building is accredited as a separate system.  Please, do not hesitate to contact KSDE if you need any assistance gaining access to the KESA App.

New KESA Forms

The intent is for these updated forms to be in the Authenticated Application by August 2022. Please, ignore red or green text in the forms.  The red text is to help KSDE staff as they continue to review the forms, while the green text is used as notes for the programmers as they implement the forms into the Authenticated Application.

Please, send any comments or suggestions about the above drafts to accreditation@ksde.org.

KESA Guidance Document

The KESA Guidance Document is being updated to contain a summary of the KESA process along with the latest reports that will be available in the Authenticated Application.  Additionally, new resources will be included to assist you in your accreditation journey.

KESA Accreditation Criteria

The KESA Accreditation Criteria was developed for the Accreditation Review Council (ARC) to help make an accreditation recommendation to the State Board of Education.  It is comprised of eight (8) sections.  Each section corresponds to a question in the ARC's executive summary recommendation of accreditation report to the State Board of Education. The document is being provided so that systems and their outside visiting team can have a clear understanding about the measures the ARC is using to make an accreditation recommendation.
