The deadline for students to enter the art contest for the Great Ideas in Education: The Art of Teaching conference is Friday, Sept. 9.

2: 1-4:30 p.m., Counting Kids Workshop, Hiawatha High School. (Registration ended Aug. 26).
Training for new Outside Visitation Team (OVT) members will be from 9-11 a.m. Sept. 6 and from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 8.
A full-day workshop focused on structured literacy will be offered at four locations throughout Kansas.
Six-week fall and winter online courses, designed for middle and high school teachers, counselors, social workers and related service providers for students in grades seventh through 12th, are being offered on behalf of the Kansas State Department of Education.
William Parrett and Kathleen Budge, of Boise State University’s Center for School Improvement and Policy Studies, have been announced as keynote speakers for the first keynote address of KSDE’s Great Ideas in Education Conference: The Art of Teaching, Oct. 19-21 in Wichita.
The Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors high school seniors who have demonstrated high achievement academically or in the arts; some having to overcome special challenges or hurdles to do so.
The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) will provide a training workshop for reviewing higher education teacher preparation programs from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 in person at the Landon State Office Building, 900 S.W. Jackson in Topeka.
