6: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., IPS Technical Assistance opportunity, ESSDACK, 1500 E. 11th Ave., #200, Hutchinson. Click here to register

6: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. KSDE Child Nutrition and Wellness regional farm tour, South Central Kansas. Begins and ends in Haven. 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Oct. 6. The tour will include Teck Farms (Hutchinson), Basinger’s Beef (Pretty Prairie), Pretty Prairie USD 311’s farm and Eck Agriculture (Kingman). A local lunch will be provided by Pretty Prairie USD 311 with a presentation from the Stafford County Flour Mill. Contact Eryn Davis at edavis@ksde.org or 785-296-5060 with questions. 

6: Fly Kansas Air Tour. Stops at Great Bend Municipal Airport from 9:45-10:45 a.m.; Wellington Municipal Airport from 12-2:15 p.m.; Hutchinson Regional Airport from 3-4:30 p.m.; and Salina Regional Airport from 5-8 p.m. 

7: Fly Kansas Air Tour. Stops at Emporia Municipal Airport from 10-11 a.m. and Topeka Regional Airport at 11:30 a.m. 

9: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., IPS Technical Assistance Opportunity, Orion, 13939 Diagonal Ave., Clearwater. Click here to register.   

9: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Utilizing FastBridge to Provide Interventions in Math, in person, Lawrence (Greenbush). $25 to attend this KSDE-sponsored event. Food provided. Graduate college credit is available. Devices are required for this session. Register here.  

9-10: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Adaptive Schools Training, Southwest Plains Conference Center, 810 W. Lark Ave. in Sublette. Registration is for four days of training. Additional training dates are Jan. 29-30, 2024. Registration is closed.  

9-13: National School Lunch Week.  

10: Deadline to submit completed applications for Kansas Horizon Award program, Presidential Scholars and United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). For more information about these programs, contact KSDE’s Tamla Miller at (785) 296-4950 or email her at tmiller@ksde.org.   

10: 3-4 p.m., Star Power Hour, virtual. A virtual space for collaboration, resources and to ask Star questions. This is exclusively for Kansas educators. Register here.  

10: All Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot data, including pending Family Access screenings and finalized manual screenings, is due in the Ages & Stages Questionnaires® Online system.

11: Kansas Vaping ECHO for Education program, Part 3.  

11: 2-3:30 p.m. FastBridge Interventions for Foundational Math Skills, virtual. Register here.  

11-12: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Adaptive Schools Training, Smoky Hill Education Service Center, Fee of $300 covers four days of training, all materials, lunch and snacks on each day. Additional training dates are Feb. 2, 2024, and Feb. 5, 2024. Registration deadline is Sept. 18. For more information, contact Darla Smith, assistant director at Smoky Hill, at dsmith@smokyhill.org. 12: 10 a.m.-noon, KIDS Virtual Office Hours. KSDE staff members will be available via Zoom to answer questions about Kansas Individual Data on Students (KIDS) reporting. There won’t be any formal presentations, just staff members available to assist with answering questions. The Zoom link is https://ksde.zoom.us/j/84488703246. 13: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Adaptive Schools Training, Orion Education and Training, 13939 Diagonal Road, Clearwater. The fee of $300 covers four days of training and lunch. Additional training dates are Oct. 16, Jan. 31, 2024, and Feb. 1, 2024. Participants should commit to attending all four days. There are two hours of college credit available through MidAmerica Nazarene University. Register here

13: Registration closes for the Kanas State Department of Education’s Great Ideas in Education Conference: Empowered Together, which will take place Oct. 25-27 at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, 400 W. Waterman St. Conference Schedule  

Registration fees: One day (any individual day) - $175. You will need to indicate which day you plan to attend; full conference - (two and one-half days) - $275. Register now. Registration questions may be sent to Kelli Byrne kbyrne@ksde.org. Programming questions may be sent to Pat Bone pbone@ksde.org  

13: 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m. KSDE Child Nutrition and Wellness regional farm tour, Northwest Kansas. Begins and ends in Hoxie. 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Oct. 13. The tour will include a wheat/sorghum producer (Grainfield), 4B Farms (Grinnell) and M Arrow Ranch (Colby). A local lunch will be provided by Colby USD 315. 15-21: America’s Safe Schools Week. 

16-20: National School Bus Safety Week. 

17: 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., 71st annual Fall Conference for School Counselors featuring award-winning educator Brandi Heather. Emporia State University’s Memorial Union. Registration fees, which include luncheon and breaks, are $95 before Oct. 17; $110 between Oct. 17 and Nov. 3; and $95 for late or on-site registration (doesn’t include luncheon). The luncheon fee only is $22. A parking permit is required to park on campus and is included in the registration fees. Register here.
