Implementing additional social-emotional learning activities, defining a clear definition of bullying and allocating resources for school- and district-based research to monitor bullying incidents and responses were just a few of the suggestions made to the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Bullying on Tuesday, May 28, during a regional meeting in Clearwater.

Bullying affects everyone, and Kansas is taking steps to combat this complex issue by convening a Blue Ribbon Task Force on Bullying that will have meetings across the state to gather public input.

Four other students named semifinalists
Two Kansas students have been named 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.
Other schools, districts also honored at ceremony in Topeka
Anthony Elementary and David Brewer Elementary schools, Leavenworth Unified School District 453, were announced as 2019 Kansas Schools of Character on Wednesday, May 1, during a special ceremony at the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka.
