AmeriCorps Kansas supports wide range of local service programs, engaging more than 100 Kansans in intensive community service each year
TOPEKA — In an effort to address community needs statewide, the Kansas Volunteer Commission has opened the 2018-2019 application process for potential AmeriCorps Kansas programs.
WICHITA – Samantha “Sam” Neill, an English language arts teacher at Buhler High School, Buhler Unified School District 313, was named the 2018 Kansas Teacher of the Year on Saturday, Nov. 18, during a special ceremony in Wichita.
TOPEKA — Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson on Tuesday recommended that the Kansas State Board of Education take a closer look at the current teacher licensing process to make the teaching field more accessible to professionals in order to address teacher vacancies.
Heidi Albin, a science teacher at Complete High School Maize in Maize Unified School District 266, on Thursday, Nov. 9 was named the 2017-2018 Milken Family Foundation Educator by the Milken Family Foundation in a surprise ceremony at the school in Maize.
The fourth Mercury 7 Redesign support cycle began Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Coffeyville, and the seven districts are busy establishing their vision statements and setting goals, said Kansas State Department of Education’s redesign specialists Jay Scott and Tammy Mitchell.
TOPEKA — Two 2017 Kansas high school graduates have received the College Board’s State Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Award based on their outstanding performances on 2017 AP exams.
