TOPEKA, April 30, 2007/The Kansas State Board of Education will hold its regular monthly board meeting on May 8 – 9, 2007, at the State Department of Education. During the two-day meeting in Topeka, the Board will receive information about assessment targets for 2007 – 2014, as well as a review of 21st century learning skills. The Southwest Service Center will give a presentation on ESOL programs. The Board will also receive the Model Library-Media and Technology Standards. The Board will act on the Model Standards for Visual Arts and the Model Standards for Health Education.

Please note that the Board will meet in executive session at the Kansas Department of Education on Monday, May 7, 2007, for the purpose of completing finalists’ interviews for the commissioner of education position. This session will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the boardroom.
