TOPEKA — Security Benefit Life Insurance has been awarded the 2017 Friend of Education award from the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE).
NASBE recognizes one individual or organization each year whose contributions to education are significant and enduring.
“Security Benefit is a well-deserved recipient of this award,” said Kansas Lt. Gov. Dr. Jeff Colyer. “Their support of our state’s teachers exemplifies the generous nature of Kansas, and we applaud them for their leadership and continued commitment to honoring such a valued profession.”
The Kansas State Board of Education nominated Security Benefit for the award earlier this year. In the nomination, the State Board of Education described the support Security Benefit has consistently provided to the Kansas Teacher of the Year Program for the past 18 years, also highlighting its recognition earlier this year of Security Benefit as its chief corporate partner for that program.
Jim McNiece, a Kansas State Board of Education member, said: “Security Benefit has been a tremendous supporter of the Kansas Teacher of the Year program. We want to thank them for their generosity. We are pleased that Security Benefit is receiving this honor.”
The award will be presented during NASBE’s Annual Conference on Nov. 1-4 at the Westin Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Ga.
“Security Benefit is proud to be recognized for this prestigious award recognizing our decades of service by the company and its associates to educators across the nation and Kansas,” said Michael Kiley, CEO of Security Benefit. “A successful society should have no higher priority than a quality education for all its children.”
