TOPEKA – The United State Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service has awarded Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) two grants totaling nearly $500,000 to support the work of school nutrition professionals in preparing healthy meals for students.
Earlier this year, Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and Deputy Commissioner Brad Neuenswander held community conversations across the state to find out from the citizens of Kansas what they want from their education system.
TOPEKA—Sept. 12, 2015—Nona Mason, a kindergarten teacher at West Elementary School in Goodland (Goodland USD 352), and Justin Coffey, a high school mathematics teacher at Dodge City High School (Dodge City USD 443), were named Region 1 finalists for the 2016 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony held today in Salina.

Crenshaw, a seventh-grade science teacher at West Middle School in Lawrence (Lawrence USD 497), were named Region 2 finalists for the 2016 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony today in Topeka.

Barikmo, a high school social studies teacher at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park (Blue Valley USD 229), were named Region 3 finalists for the 2016 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony this evening in Overland Park.
