TOPEKA – With most Kansas schools now back in full swing, residents will once again see that familiar influx of school buses on the roadway. While school buses are some of the safest vehicles on the road, the greatest danger for children riding buses is traveling to and from the bus stop and getting on and off the bus.
The Kansas Volunteer Commission (KVC), joined by Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps, today announced new federal investments totaling nearly $1.4 million to support 160 AmeriCorps members, supporting programs related to education, disaster services, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and economic opportunity.
