Washington DC –In a special ceremony held in Washington, DC last week, Kansas State University Football Coach Bill Snyder was awarded the 2015 Excellence in Mentoring Award by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership in recognition of his longstanding commitment to meeting the mentoring needs of young people in Kansas.
TOPEKA – Third-grade teacher Amy Stanislowski was named a Milken Educator (ME) today by the Milken Family Foundation in a surprise ceremony at Dodge Literacy Magnet Elementary School in Wichita Unified School District 259. As a Milken Educator, Stanislowski will receive an unrestricted cash award of $25,000.

 Incoming Kansas Education Commissioner Dr. Randy Watson will be hosting community conversations titled Kansas Children. Kansas’ Future. in 15 locations throughout the state.

TOPEKA – The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) today announced the recipients of the 2015 Kansas Horizon Award, which recognizes exemplary first-year educators. Thirty-two first-year educators from around the state received this distinction and will be honored at a special ceremony during the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network (KEEN) State Education Conference on Feb. 20, 2015 in Topeka.
