TOPEKA – After several months of discussion, the Kansas State Board of Education (KSBE) voted to approve the Coalition of Innovative School Districts’ (CISD) request to implement a Specialized Teaching Certificate that would provide these districts the flexibility to hire non-licensed professionals or licensed professionals in areas outside of their area of licensure in order to fill hard to fill teacher vacancies.

First Choice Support Services, a Salina-based organization specializing in Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) reimbursement and nutrition related issues, was recognized by the National CACFP Sponsors Association with a certificate, letter of congratulations and $250 for its successful outreach in the community to spread the word about the Child and Adult Care Food Program during National CACFP Week held in March.
