TOPEKA – State Board of Education members learned during their monthly meeting Aug. 9-10 in Topeka that more Kansas schools met the federal adequate yearly progress (AYP) requirement in the 2010-11 testing cycle than did the previous year.   View Article

TOPEKA – The Kansas State Board of Education voted to increase the teacher certification/licensure fee effective Sept. 1, 2011, at a special meeting June 27, 2011.   View Article

TOPEKA – The statewide graduation rate using the new, federally mandated four-year adjusted cohort calculation was shared with State Board of Education members at their meeting June 14 and 15 in Topeka. Commissioner of Education Dr. Diane DeBacker explained that the state’s target graduation rate for 2009-2010 was 80 percent. Kansas met the target, posting a 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate of 80.36 percent.   View Article
