TOPEKA, January 11, 2007/ The State Board of Education will hold a special meeting for the purpose of consulting with Brenda Welburn, executive director of the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE). The State Board of Education has contracted with NASBE to facilitate the selection process for a new Commissioner of Education. Mrs. Welborn and State Board members will discuss characteristics sought in the new commissioner and the process for receiving input from across the state. The meeting will be held in the Board Room of the Education Building, 120 SE. 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas.
