The Kansas State Department of Education will hold its first ever Pathwise Framework Induction Program Colloquium in Garden City on April 22, 2010. This event will honor all Pathwise mentors and mentees that took part in the Pathwise Framework Induction Program over the past two years.

Pathwise is a comprehensive professional development program that provides mentors with research-based training and materials to support beginning teachers as they transition from the university or other environments to classroom practice. Mentors participate in interactive training and use a developmentally designed package of materials to guide beginning teachers in their first years of teaching. The program focuses on four domains: Planning and Preparation, The Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities.

This celebratory event, “The 2010 Pathwise Olympics,” will feature group presentations and an awards ceremony.  Garden City, Liberal and Stanton County school districts took part in the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) sponsored Pathwise Framework Induction Program pilot over the past two school years.  Educational Testing Service (ETS) trainers Shirley Hall, ETS Project Director, and Pat Knapper-Smith, Pathwise Trainer will also be in attendance along with representatives from KSDE.

This has been a Teacher Education and Licensure initiative directed by Education Program Consultant Jessica Hellmer. For more information on the Pathwise Framework Induction Program pilot, please contact Director Pamela Coleman at 785-296-8010 or pcoleman@ksde.org.
