Final Math-in-CTE Training in Topeka
Who: Secondary math and career and technical education teachers from across the state
What: Final Math in Career and Technical Education (CTE) training and celebration
Where: Topeka Ramada Inn, 6th and Quincy
For the past two years, the Kansas State Department of Education has partnered with the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education to bring the nationally recognized school improvement initiative Math-in-CTE Model to Kansas schools.
This model uses teacher pairs consisting of one CTE instructor and one math instructor from the same district/building to identify and teach mathematical concepts that are embedded within the CTE curriculum. This partnership allows students to better connect what is taught in math class with what is taught in CTE classes.
On June 1, 2009 in Topeka, 21 Kansas teachers will be completing their yearlong training cycle for Math-in-CTE. The final training session starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Topeka Ramada, followed by a 1:30 p.m. celebration and distribution of certificates. There will also be an opportunity for photos at this time.
