Change Lives. Teach. Campaign to Roll Out at the KEEN State Education Conference

The Kansas State Department of Education will be sponsoring the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network State Education Conference Thursday and Friday at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Topeka.
This year’s conference theme is “Teachers…Creating a Vision for 21st Century Schools.” Educators will learn about exemplary education programs that highlight the power of collaborative work to meet the needs of 21st century students and will participate in a community conversation focused on using transformational dialogue to move a school successfully through changes required for 21st century schools.
One of the highlights of the conference will be the airing for the first time of theChange Lives. Teachvideo.Following the video, Dr. Pamela Coleman, Director of Teacher Education and Licensure at the Kansas State Department of Education will present information about the statewide campaign. Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Alexa Posny will follow with the keynote address, Creating a Vision for 21st Century Schools: Partners for Change. In addition, Deputy Commissioner of Education Dr. Diane DeBacker will be facilitating a community conversation Friday morning.
Presentations at the conference will recognize the 2008 Milken National Educator, the 2008 National Board Certified Teachers, the Teachers of Promise, and the 2009 Kansas Horizon Award Educators. Lt. Governor Mark Parkinson will address the audience and assist in the presentation of awards at the Thursday evening banquet.
Conference registration begins Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
