Dr. Alexa Posny Appointed to the 100-day Task Force

Topeka/The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) president Ken James (AR) recently announced the formation of a “100 day Task Force.” This task force is charged with developing immediate recommendations for the consideration of President-Elect Obama’s Education Transition Team, Congress, and the eventual U.S. Secretary of Education.

Dr. Alexa Posny Appointed to the 100-day Task Force
 
Topeka/The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) president Ken James (AR) recently announced the formation of a “100 day Task Force.” This task force is charged with developing immediate recommendations for the consideration of President-Elect Obama’s Education Transition Team, Congress, and the eventual U.S. Secretary of Education.
 
Meeting at the CCSSO Annual Policy Forum in Austin, TX, the state chiefs laid out their short-term priority issues: state-federal partnership, state capacity, funding and the final Title 1 regulation with Linda Darling-Hammond, the lead on President-Elect Obama’s Education Policy Working Group.
 
The Task Force is meeting December 1 in Washington, D.C., to develop the priority policy proposals and plans. Members include Chief Joe Morton (AL), Deputy Gavin Payne (CA), Chief Chris Koch (IL), Chief Judy Jeffrey (IA), Chief Alexa Posny (KS), Chief Susan Gendron (ME), Chief Peter McWalters (RI), Chief Robert Scott (TX), Chief Pat Wright (VA), and Chief Libby Burmaster (WI).
 
The Task Force recommendations will be finalized on December 15 and will be deliberated at the Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., March 8-9, 2009.
