KSDE will be hosting a visit by U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings as she holds an education policy roundtable with a select group of legislators, business people, two members representing the State Board of Education, the Kansas Teacher of the Year and a select number of superintendents followed by a brief discussion with the Council of Superintendents.   She will also host a short press conference during her visit.

The discussions are part of Secretary Spellings visits to states to discuss No Child Left Behind with the goal of crisscrossing the entire country. Her state visits are a chance for her to listen to key issues of importance to the states and are an opportunity to focus on such issues as school improvement, data systems, peer review reforms, differentiated consequences, English Language Learners (ELL), and Students with Disabilities (SWD).

Members of the press are invited to attend ALL sessions. The Education Policy Roundtable will be held in the Boardroom. You MUST be in the room by 12:30 p.m. if you plan to cover this event.
