WASHINGTON – June 5, 2007 – Ms. Pam Zipfel of Maize High School, USD 266 Maize, has been chosen to attend the 2007 Toyota International Teacher Program to the Galapagos Islands, scheduled to take place this fall.

In total, Toyota reviewed nearly four hundred applications for the program this year. Ms. Zipfel was selected for one of just twenty-four possible awards.

In the past nine years, the fully funded Toyota International Teacher Programs, sponsored by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., have afforded over five hundred teachers the opportunity to explore Japan, Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands. The programs aim to enrich and change how instructors approach teaching international and environmental themes, as well as build awareness for cultural and environmental issues in various areas of the world.

The Galapagos Islands Program will enable Ms. Zipfel the opportunity to work directly with native educators, experts and naturalists while exploring the islands off the coast of Ecuador.
