LAWRENCE – June 5, 2007 – Dr. Doug Glasnapp and Dr. John Poggio were honored for twenty-five years of dedicated service to Kansas education Tuesday morning at the University of Kansas.

Dale M. Dennis, Interim Commissioner of Education, presented the awards alongside Kansas State Board of Education Chairman, Bill Wagnon.

The brief ceremony came as a surprise to Dr. Glasnapp and Dr. Poggio. The two have worked together since 1980 to improve the way state assessments are written, administered and scored. Because of their efforts, many districts are able to get assessment results as early as the next day.

The two received certificates from Mr. Dennis as he thanked them for their years of continued work and dedication.

Several others, including Dr. Tom Foster and board member Sue Gamble, also offered words of appreciation to Dr. Glasnapp and Dr. Poggio for their services in the Kansas education system.
