Dale M. Dennis to be Inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame

The Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame in Dodge City is pleased to announce that the Class of 2008 includes Dale M. Dennis, Deputy Commissioner of Education for Kansas. The Class of 2008 will be inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame in Dodge City on Saturday, June 7, 2008.

Dale M. Dennis to be Inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame
 
The Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame in Dodge City is pleased to announce that the Class of 2008 includes Dale M. Dennis, Deputy Commissioner of Education for Kansas. The Class of 2008 will be inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame in Dodge City on Saturday, June 7, 2008.
 
Mr. Dennis started his career as a business teacher and principal in the 1960’s. He was employed as the State School Finance Administrator in the Kansas Department of Education in 1967, becoming Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner in 1976.
 
Mr. Dennis currently supervises the administration of approximately 3.3 billion state and federal funds which flow through the State Department of Education to unified school districts and nonpublic schools. He serves as the liaison for the State Board of Education to the Legislature and the Governor, spending considerable time providing information necessary in the decision-making process in the area of education and more specifically school finance. Mr. Dennis supervises the preparation of the State Department of Education budget as well as the auditing of all state and federal programs administered by this agency.
 
“I can’t think of a candidate more deserving than Dale for this honor. For over 40 years, his dedication and commitment to the children of Kansas has been unsurpassed. He is truly a remarkable educator,” said Alexa Posny, Kansas Commissioner of Education.
 
Mr. Dennis is highly regarded by teachers, school administrators, state policymakers, education advocates/organizations, and the courts for his knowledge and expertise in the areas of school finance and administration.
 
In 1977, the first state Teachers’ Hall of Fame was established in Dodge City.
