CNCS/Federal Policies
All AmeriCorps grantees and subgrantees are subject to guiding policies. These policies are contained in the following documents:
  1.  The Federal Regulations
  2. The Provisions      (2012 Provisions)  
  3. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars
  4. The Program Directors' Handbook from your Commission and any other policies the Commission may have. The Federal Regulations, Provisions and OMB's however always take priority.

    In addition to the above documents programs are held to their submitted grant application and program design

    All relevant staff should be provided a copy of their program's application.

REPORTING

Directors must have an account obtained via the KVC and sign in at
http://www.americorpsks.org .  Please note - All reporting is done through OnCorps. eGrants is completely independent of this site and is used for applying for grants and enrolling/exiting members.

Change of Status

All programs must complete and file the AmeriCorps Member Change of Status Form for any AmeriCorps Member that undergoes a change from Active or Suspended Service status to: 1) Suspended Service, 2) Termination, 3) Transfer Out, or 4) Reinstated/Active. AmeriCorps State members are primarily for direct service, NOT capacity building.  If a program wants members for primarily capacity building they should apply for a VISTA program.

eGrants is used to apply for AmeriCorps grants; to enroll, suspend, exit members (within 30 days of said change) and assign service locations for members, also within 30 days.  Programs and individuals must register with eGrants to obtain an account.

My AmeriCorps
        
My AmeriCorps is the portal applicants use to register their identities and seek and apply for AmeriCorps member positions.  It is also the portal that they will use to administer their Education Award if they successfully complete their term; apply for loan forbearance for qualified Title IV eduction loans; and request interest payment on those loans.

Nondisplacement, Nonduplication
AmeriCorps federal monies should not be regarded as an additional funding stream for existing services.  If awarded, the bulk of the funds will be designated to support the hosting of national service AmeriCorps members, which programs will recruit and enroll in national service within their host agency.  AmeriCorps members are never meant to replace an agency's employees or regular volunteers, or take over their duties.  Please see:

Program Evaluation
All programs must have an objective program evaluation at least once during their 3 year grant cycle.  A-133 grantees should arrange an external evaluation while the others may develop an internal process.  Here is a sample of a program evaluation:

Members must be enrolled/exited in eGrants within 30 days of the beginning/end of their term. This includes the first/last day of their term. (Ref:  p. 6-7, 2011-2012 AmeriCorps Provisions).  The same 30 day rule applies to any member change of status and assigning service locations.

       

All AmeriCorps programs must have a sign prominently displayed on the entrance of their members' service sites  which has the logo and states an AmeriCorps member serves there (Ref.  p. 9, 2011-2012 AmeriCorps Kansas Program Directors' Handbook).  In addition all programs must prominently display the AmeriCorps logo on their web site and state they are an AmeriCorps grantee (Ref.:  p. 5, 2011-2012 Provisions).  A large 8x8, 300 dpi jpeg is available here or by clicking on the logo above.    Once the picture appears, right click, and "save as..".  A high resolution TIFF is available upon request but due to file size it can not be made available online.
