Programs

To achieve our mission and vision, the KVC provides support and assistance to the following programs and initiatives:

AmeriCorps Kansas:  AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides opportunities for citizens to serve their communities.  Participants in AmeriCorps, known as "members", join a local program and provide intensive community service.

Volunteer Generation Fund:
The purpose of the Volunteer Generation Fund (VGF) is to increase the number of people who serve in meaningful roles as volunteers dedicated to addressing important needs in communities across Kansas.  VGF grants support efforts that expand the capacity of volunteer-connector organizations to recruit, manage, support and retain individuals to serve in high quality volunteer assignments.

Kansas Mentors
:  Kansas Mentors is a statewide mentoring partnership that connects existing mentoring programs with each other and serves as a resource center for communities wishing to start a program.  Kansas Mentors works to promote the great mentoring opportunities found throughout the state and to find ways to recruit more Kansans to become part of these efforts.

SeniorCorps:
Senior Corps provides a wide range of opportunities for persons over the age of 55 to become more involved in their communities.  In Kansas, there are 27 Senior Corps programs working to meet the needs of communities and connecting community members.

AmeriCorps*VISTA: The Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) project began in 1965 as a part of the AmeriCorps program.  Since then, over 140,000 Americans have given their time to help communities around the nation.  These members work in and with low-income communities to respond to the needs of the individual communities.  Projects have included improving education, housing, and health care as well as strengthening community organizations and nonprofit organizations in the area.
